Here's the product of this week's work. We started out by getting an image of an interesting face and translate it from the photo to the paper. It was an exercise of human faces and shading. I'm pretty proud of this!

I got the resource image from a fellow deviant on DeviantArt. If you like, you can see the original image here:

jeff and i both said "gah!" when it loaded. scary! but very well drawn indeed. (the original is scary too)
Very nice! Did you you transfer the image at all or is it drawn freehand?
Did you just start art classes? And is that free hand? If you answer yes to both...I don't know if I can talk to you anymore - just a wee bit jealous. =)
Hey man that's killer.
I am very impressed. Drawing humans is hard. (At least for me.) I never got much past stick figures.
wow great. Keep it up....faces were always the hardest for me.
I'll try to answer everyone's questions.
Barb - I took a couple high school art classes, but they really focused on painting rather than drawing.
To all - It's not entirely freehand. I used tracing paper on a copy of the photo to get the general outline, eye placement, nostrils, etc. The rest of the shading/drawing was freehand, using the photocopy as a reference.
Thanks all for the support. :)
How did you do that? Tranfer or freehand? You did a fantastic job either way. Shading is key to filling in the shapes and capturing the personality. Terrific!
